San Francisco

I just received a letter saying that I have been accepted to lead an HIV/AIDS Alternative Spring Break trip to San Francisco. So unlike thousands of college kids who will be spending their Spring Break getting crunk, I will be spending mine by doing community outreach and leadership in the area of HIV/AIDS.

San Francisco... Here I come!

Rolling Down the River

Here are a couple pictures from the whitewater rafting trip I went on a fortnight ago. Unfortunately, my friends who took the cooler pictures haven't forwarded them to me yet so these will have to do.

Whitewater Rafting in the Deschutes

I just returned from whitewater rafting all day long on the Deschutes river. It was only my second time but it was without a doubt more fun and more exciting than the first. All that is because I went with my wonderful roommates and we managed to get on a raft with our an extremely adventurous (and safe) raft guide, who also happened to be a friend of ours.

As much as I would like to tell you all about the day's event, I want nothing more than to crawl into bed and collapse because I am so tired. And even that is something that I cannot do just yet because it is a Sunday night and I am a college student. Unlike my roommates, however, at least I have done all of my homework due tomorrow, which is why I have the small luxury of typing this entry. I just need to get started on some work for Tuesday simply because I am such a "wonderful" student.

I promise pictures! (Once my friends send me their photos...).

PDX, ftw.

I'm back in Portland! It doesn't feel like I'm really back though; I feel like I'll wake up in my bed in Manila if I fall asleep even just for a second. Everything feels rather weird and surreal, but in a good way.

Reality just needs time to sink in, I suppose.

Or perhaps it's just the jet lag talking. Nothing really makes sense right now because I'm so tired.

Beach Bumming

It was only upon returning to the bustling city life when I decided that I prefer the laidback lifestyle only offered by the beach. I do enjoy tanning on the sand while listening to the waves crash and sipping cool, girly alcoholic drinks. But what I enjoy more than that is being plagued by the heat and sunshine only to escape it by jumping into the water to snorkel or, better yet, to scuba dive. I feel like I am one of the ocean’s many mistresses, and I love it.

I must recover from the nostalgic longing of the beach bum’s life that I have so easily succumbed to. However, it shouldn’t be too long from now since it has been a week since I left the beach.

Sipping Girly Drinks By The Beach

The plans for the beach trip with four amazing people are finally coming together. Nearly everything is booked, and I say 'nearly' because we're leaving several aspects of our trip unplanned for a bit of adventure! Sometimes spontaneity and small adventures are needed.

With my gold aviator sunglasses and white bikini I'm all set to have some fun!

Flying First Class Up in the Sky

PostSecret

Doing something for a long time doesn't mean that your initial fear for it eventually wanes. For example, take my fear of flying--I've been flying long before I could even walk but I'm still terrified of if.

My palms get sweaty, my stomach gets millions of tiny fluttering butterflies, and my heart palpitates as I wait to board the plane. I'm frozen in fear during take-off and the ascent until we reach cruising altitude, and I peer out the windows during the descent anxiously waiting for touch-down. I never unbuckle my seatbelt unless I really need to use the bathroom, even when I have the entire row of seats to stretch out and sleep on.

I hate turbulence.

Ironically enough, I love airports.
